Belarusian food exports to Russia up by 9.7% in Q1 2025

In January-March 2025, Belarusian food exports to Russia increased by 9.7% year-on-year. This was discussed during a working meeting between Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov and State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Sergei Glazyev, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

The parties examined the implementation of Union State programs, including the formation of a common agricultural policy and the integration of information systems for veterinary and phytosanitary inspection. These efforts aim to harmonize Belarusian and Russian legislation in regulating the agricultural sector, remove administrative barriers, increase trade, and ensure food security. One significant outcome will be the creation of a unified tracking system for controlled goods, enhancing oversight efficiency and expediting customs clearance.

In 2024, mutual trade in food products and agricultural raw materials between the two countries rose by 13.4% year-on-year. Belarusian exports grew by 15.5%, with dairy product shipments surging by 17%, meat and meat products - by 16.6%. In January-March 2025, Belarus’ exports to Russia increased by 9.7% year-on-year. Belarusian products are being shipped to 75 Russian regions. The highest demand observed in the Central Federal District and the Northwestern Federal District.

According to the ministry, specialists continue efforts to expand the range of exported products, lift restrictions, and enhance the competitiveness of Belarusian agricultural products on the Russian market.

"The meeting at the Agriculture and Food Ministry will help to promptly address urgent trade issues between strategic partners and strengthen cooperation in agriculture," the ministry concluded.
