Relations between Uzbekistan and Belarus keep strengthening, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus Rahmatulla Nazarov said as he spoke at a function celebrating the 630th anniversary of the famous Uzbek scientist Mīrzā Ulugh Beg at the House of Friendship on 3 December, BelTA has learned.
“The humanitarian sector, including culture, is an important bridge between our countries, whose relations continue to strengthen,” the diplomat emphasized. “I hope that this event will inspire us to take further steps in the development of cultural interaction. Science and culture know no borders, contributing to the deepening of friendship and cooperation between our peoples.”
According to Rahmatulla Nazarov, Mīrzā Ulugh Beg's achievements are an important part of the national identity, reflecting the rich history and spiritual heritage of Uzbekistan.
The important role of the great Uzbek figure was emphasized by Belarusian scholars who attended the event.
Mīrzā Ulugh Beg became the ruler of the state at the age of 15. During his 40-year rule there was political and economic stability, and Samarkand turned into a center of education, science and culture. Along with ruling the state, Mīrzā Ulugh Beg became a great scientist-astronaut, mathematician, historian, expert in music and poetry.
