BelAZ showcases innovations in Russia’s Kirovsk, Yekaterinburg

Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer BelAZ has showcased its innovations in Russia, BelTA learned from the company.

The BelAZ Trading House and its official dealers Avtotekhinmash and BelTransLogistik took part in two events dedicated to new technologies in the mining industry.

BelAZ Deputy Chief Designer Pavel Matveyev presented a report on “BelAZ machinery innovations in ecology, increasing productivity and import substitution” at the 11th International Conference “Mining industry of the Barents Euro-Arctic region: a look into the future” in Kirovsk, Murmansk Oblast. The conference is held annually to discuss problems and prospects for the development of the mining industry, and to exchange experience between Russian and foreign enterprises in the extraction and processing of solid minerals in the Arctic zone.  

“BelAZ is constantly working to increase the productivity of its quarry equipment and reduce the cost of transporting rock mass in mining operations. We are looking not only at the use of natural gas and electricity, but also at such fuels as hydrogen and methanol, but this is another page of our development, which we will turn over in the foreseeable future,” Pavel Matveyev emphasized in his speech.

Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast, hosted the 10th Urals Mining Forum “Mine of the Future”, dedicated to environmental issues of the mining industry and reduction of the negative impact of mining enterprises on the environment.

Boris Gorbunov, Service Director of the BELAZ Trading House, presented new developments of vehicles powered by alternative energy sources. Today, environmental friendliness is one of the key areas of BelAZ innovation activities.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's largest manufacturer of haul trucks and transport equipment for the mining industry and the civil engineering industry. BelAZ occupies about 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world's largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
