Belarus intends to increase supplies to Pakistan's Punjab Province

Belarusian Ambassador to Pakistan Andrei Metelitsa visited Lahore, the capital of Punjab, the most populated province of Pakistan, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

The ambassador met with Punjab Province Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and conveyed him an invitation to visit Minsk Oblast and Mogilev Oblast – the partners of Punjab.

The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission also held a series of meetings aimed at strengthening economic cooperation with the Pakistani province. He held talks with senior officials of the Lahore city administration and the city chamber of commerce, local companies, associations of industrialists, dairy processors, and Chughtai Labs, one of Pakistan's leading medical centers.

The parties discussed cooperation in industry, agriculture and pharmaceuticals, including the prospects for increasing supplies of Belarusian products to Punjab Province.

The Belarusian ambassador also met with Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab Professor Niaz Ahmad Akhtar to discuss inter-university interaction. Books on the history and culture of Belarus were donated to the university library where they will be allocated a separate thematic section.

Ambassador Andrei Metelitsa also visited the University of Engineering and Technology (UET Lahore) and met with Vice Chancellor Professor Syed Mansoor Sarwar. The parties discussed the ways to implement the cooperation agreement signed between the UET Lahore and the Belarusian National Technical University in October 2016. The parties also considered ways to step up academic exchange and online lectures. In addition, the ambassador visited Lahore high school where he talked with teachers and students.
