Belarus beats Russia in Christmas Ice Hockey Tournament final

        Belarus President Team won the 9th Christmas Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament for the Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus, beating Russia represented by the Gazprom Export Team at Minsk Arena.
        Oleg Antonenko starred at the game scoring three goals and assisting two more. He as well as Artyom Senkevich were named the players of the match on Belarus’ behalf. Igor Boriskov and Dmitry Subbotin were named the best in the Russian team.
Bronze went to Canada Team who whitewashed Austria 3-0. Austria was bronze medalist of the tournament in 2006 and 2012. Canada had not gone higher than 5th place before.Belarus President Team was the winner of the Christmas Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament six times (in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012). Russia clinched the champion title of the tournament in 2007 and 2011 by beating Belarus Team.
The tournament has been held under the aegis of the national association Presidential Sports Club since 2006. Among the organizers are the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry, the Ice Hockey Federation of Belarus, the Minsk City Hall. The partners of the tournament are Belaruskali and Priorbank. The Belarusian State TV and Radio Company is the information partner.
