A working group on promotion of Sustainable Development Goals has been set up in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Information Ministry. The goal is to promote public awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals in Belarus, including among children and the youth. In 2015, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution with 17 Sustainable Development Goals included in it. The adoption of the 2030 Agenda required from all the states to review and spell out the national program documents and develop SDGs implementation mechanisms.

Belarus is committed to the Agenda 2030 and has already taken a number of important steps to reach the SDGs. The country has created the institutional basis to ensure progress towards the SDGs. The National Assembly has a parliamentary group for SDGs.

An important factor in achieving SDGs is mutually beneficial global and regional cooperation, sharing of knowledge and know how in the sector of innovations to strengthen potential and transfer technologies for the purpose of development.
