The Belarusian-Russian film The Role has been nominated for the Nika Awards. The film will be vying in five nominations. Konstantin Lopushansky’s picture was made by Belarusfilm Studio, Russia’s Proline Media and Lenfilm, Finland’s BUFO STUDIo and Germany’s SIGMA H.V.e K. The film has already been awarded at several prestigious festivals: the Russian Cinema Clubs Federation Award at the 35th Moscow International Film Festival, a special prize of the Union State Permanent Committee entitled Together, and the Cinema without Borders Award from the CIS Executive Committee at the 20th Minsk Film Festival Listapad, the Alexander Tvardovsky Award for the best screenplay and the Anatoly Papanov Award for the best role at the 6th All-Russian Film Festival Golden Phoenix, the Best Actor Award to Maxim Sukhanov at the Dark Nights International Festival (Estonia).
The Nika Award is a national award of the Russian Academy of Cinema Arts and Sciences, the main film award in Russia, other CIS and Baltic states.
