Belarusian tennis players have reached the quarterfinals of the doubles events at tournaments in the USA and Türkiye, BelTA has learned.
In the round of 16 in Memphis (USA), with a prize fund of $283,000, Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich and Slovenian Nika Radišič crushed the British-Spanish duo Sofia Johnson / Maria Garcia, 6-0, 6-0. In the match for a place in the semifinals, Iryna Shymanovich and Nika Radišič will face Russia’s Mariia Kozyreva and Britain’s Maia Lumsden.
At the start of the men’s tournament in Samsun (Türkiye), with a prize fund of $63,000, Belarusian Sergey Betov and India’s Karan Singh confidently defeated the Turkish pair Koray Kirci / Ergi Kırkın, 6-3, 6-3. In the quarterfinals, they will meet the French duo Dan Added / Gabriel Debru.
In Los Cabos (Mexico), at a tournament with a prize fund of $910,000, Belarus’ Ivan Liutarevich and Miguel Reyes-Varela of Mexico failed to reach the quarterfinals, losing in three sets to Australia’s Rinky Hijikata and Reese Stalder of the USA, 3-6, 6-4, 8-10.
The tournaments in the USA, Mexico, and Türkiye will conclude on 2 August.
