Lukashenko participating in EAEU summit at Palace of Independence in Astana

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived at the Palace of Independence in Astana to take part in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, BelTA has learned.


The agenda of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting includes around 20 items. The heads of state, in both narrow and expanded formats, will discuss the development of international trade and cooperation with EAEU partners, the use of artificial intelligence, matters of customs legislation, the implementation of industrial cooperation projects, and a number of other matters.

 

 
The narrow format meeting is taking place behind closed doors, without protocol statements for the media. Later, the leaders of the EAEU member states will be joined at the expanded-format session by their colleagues from the Union’s observer states. The agenda also includes speeches by participants of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the signing of documents scheduled for consideration.

 

 

On the previous day, 28 May, Aleksandr Lukashenko took part in the 5th Eurasian Economic Forum, whose key theme was The EAEU in the Global Digital Race: Betting on Artificial Intelligence. In his speech, the president outlined Belarus’ approach to the use of artificial intelligence, provided concrete examples of AI implementation in the real sector of the economy, and emphasized the need for closer cooperation in this area within the Eurasian Economic Union.
