Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated Chairperson of the African Union, President of Burundi Évariste Ndayishimiye, as well as all heads of state and government of the member countries of the association, on Africa Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the head of state.
“This day carries profound meaning for every nation across the African continent. The founding of the Organization of African Unity marked a turning point in world history, as it represented a decisive rupture with the colonial past. This holiday will forever stand as a symbol of courage, the selfless fight for the right to be masters of one’s own land, and the triumph of pan-African solidarity,” the congratulatory message reads.
“Belarus deeply respects historical legacy. We see how, today, building on a strong foundation of independence, African nations are confidently emerging as a powerful and influential center of a multipolar world,” added Aleksandr Lukashenko.
The head of state stressed that Belarus takes pride in its contribution to Africa’s decolonization processes and remains committed to steadily expanding friendly ties with its nations.
“The projects we have carried out with several African countries, including those on comprehensive agricultural mechanization, the creation of service centers, and the training of specialists, have already proven their worth. They have delivered tangible gains in crop yields and strengthened the economic autonomy of our partners,” he noted. “We are also ready to broaden cooperation in food security, energy, petrochemicals, healthcare, and digital technologies. I firmly believe that these areas can serve as a foundation for deepening dialogue between Belarus and the African Union.”
The Belarusian leader renewed his invitation for an African Union delegation to visit Minsk to explore promising avenues for cooperation. He also expressed his readiness for a personal meeting with the chairperson of the African Union to discuss key items on the current agenda, including Belarusian-Burundian relations.
The president of Belarus wished the heads of state and government of the African Union peace, prosperity, and sustainable development, and wished the chairperson every success in his responsible role.
