Belarus’ PM meets with Turkmenistan president

Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin met with Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow on 22 May during his working visit to the country, BelTA has learned.
 
Belarus-Turkmenistan relations are based on genuine friendship, mutual respect and partnership. Belarus is committed to dynamically developing relations with Turkmenistan for the benefit of both countries and their people. The two states cooperate productively within international organizations, providing each other with mutual support.
 
Cooperation in education is particularly notable. A significant number of Turkmen students study at Belarusian universities. Belarus trains highly qualified specialists for Turkmenistan in various areas, which also implies exploring new niches and potential opportunities for expanding trade and economic cooperation.
 
There is potential for growth in mutual trade. Promising areas include the agro-industrial sector and transport infrastructure.
 
The head of the Belarusian government is visiting Turkmenistan to take part in a meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council. The meeting will be held in Ashgabat on 22 May in narrow and expanded formats. Following the meeting, the heads of delegations will sign final documents.
