Belavia carries over 12,000 passengers between Minsk, Sri Lanka in six months

Minsk will launch regular flights to Sri Lanka, Igor Golub, Director of the Aviation Department at the Transport and Communications Ministry, detailed the ongoing work on the First News TV Channel, BelTA has learned. On 13 May, an intergovernmental agreement on air traffic between the two countries was signed in Minsk. The agreement will allow regular passenger and cargo flights between airports, help strengthen business ties, and elevate bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level. “We will coordinate flight frequencies at the level of aviation authorities. This is a popular destination. The charter program was launched on 28 October 2025. So far, 24 round-trip flights have been operated on the Minsk–Mattala–Minsk route, carrying over 12,000 passengers. Following recent negotiations at the level of the head of state, various ministries, and agencies, we see that both the tourism program and the economic component will expand. Both sides are interested,” said Igor Golub.
