CIS foreign ministers meet in Moscow

The CIS Foreign Ministers Council is holding a meeting in Moscow on 17 April. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov is participating in the event, BelTA has learned.
 
The meeting began with a closed-door session of the CIS foreign ministers in a narrow format. This portion is scheduled to include an exchange of views on pressing issues of the international agenda and on cooperation within the CIS framework.

During the meeting with the participation of delegations, the following issues will be considered: the declaration of 2028 as the Year of Social Development and Quality of Life in the CIS, and a draft protocol amending the agreement on cooperation among CIS member states on the return of minors to their countries of permanent residence, dated 7 October 2002.

Also on the agenda are the implementation of the plan for multi-level ministerial consultations within the CIS and the action program to enhance partnership among the foreign ministries of CIS member states in 2025, the granting of basic educational institution status within the CIS, and several other matters.

The signing of a number of documents is expected following the meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council.
