HC Dinamo Minsk crush HC Sochi 7-2 in KHL road game

HC Dinamo Minsk have secured a victory in their third road game of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) regular season, BelTA has learned.

On 25 February, the Minsk Bisons visited the Western Conference underdog HC Sochi. The Minsk side effectively settled the outcome in the first period, putting four pucks past the Sochi goalie. Vadim Moroz opened the scoring at 4:00, Darren Dietz found the net midway through, Yegor Borikov got on the scoresheet five minutes later, and Vadim Shipachyov buried a precise shot with 30 seconds left in the frame.

Early in the second period, the Russian forward set up Ty Smith for a goal – Shipachyov’s 700th career assist in the KHL career. Shortly before the period ended, HC Sochi finally beat the Minsk Bisons’ goaltender Zack Fucale. In the third period, Alex Limoges converted on a power play off a feed from Sam Anas, extending both Americans’ point streaks to eight games.

Borikov added his second goal soon after, and the home team scored again shortly before the final buzzer. The game ended 7-2 for HC Dinamo Minsk. Dmitri Kvartalnov’s team returned to second place in the Western Conference, trailing the leading HC Lokomotiv Yaroslavl by five points. On 27 February, the Minsk club will face HC Sochi again, a game that will conclude their road trip.
