Kenyan lawmakers on official visit to Belarus

A parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Kenya, led by Speaker of the Senate Amason Jeffah Kingi, in Belarus on an official visit, BelTA has learned.

 

During the visit, which will conclude on 10 December, the delegation is scheduled to meet with the leadership of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly. Their program includes visits to the Minsk Research and Treatment Center for Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology, and Minsk Tractor Works. They will also visit the Hi-Tech Park and meet with the leadership of the Supervisory Board. They will also tour Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky.

 

Minsk is keen to significantly expand cooperation with Nairobi across a broad range of areas, viewing Kenya as a promising region. The two nations have established excellent relations at the highest level. In December 2023, during a working visit to Kenya, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held talks with his Kenyan counterpart, President William Ruto.

 

The Senate of Kenya is the upper house of the Parliament of the Republic of Kenya and exercises legislative functions. As stipulated by the Constitution, the Senate consists of 68 members (currently 67), who serve five-year terms.
