Belarus, Niger seek to expand cooperation

Belarus and Niger aim to develop industrial cooperation. Promising areas were discussed during a visit of a delegation of enterprises from the Belarusian Industry Ministry (MTZ, MAZ, BelAZ, Minsk Electrotechnical Plant named after V.I.Kozlov) to countries of the Sahel region, BelTA learned from the press service of the Industry Ministry.

Following successful negotiations in Mali and Burkina Faso, the delegation worked in the capital of Niger, Niamey. A meeting was held between Mayor of Niamey, Colonel Boubacar Soumana Garanké and Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Denis Bakey. The parties discussed the development of urban passenger transport in the Nigerien capital, the supply of machinery and equipment for municipal services, and the strengthening of bilateral ties in industry and technological exchange.

“The negotiations confirmed the interest in Belarusian machinery and equipment for modernizing urban infrastructure. The visit demonstrates the expansion of export opportunities for our manufacturers in the markets of West Africa and the strengthening of Belarus' position in the Sahel region,” the press service said.

As BelTA previously reported, in recent years, the countries of the Sahel region – Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger – have demonstrated steady economic growth and increased interest in industrial and technological cooperation. Belarus offers comprehensive solutions, including the supply of machinery, the establishment of assembly plants, service centers, and personnel training programs. The visit aims to strengthen economic ties and diversify export markets.
