Belarus ranked 22nd in terms of access to information and communication technologies among 132 countries according to the Global Innovation Index 2023 rankings, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Communications and Informatization Ministry.
The ICT access index is a composite index that assigns weights to four ICT indicators (25% each): the percentage of the population covered by mobile networks (at least 3G, at least LTE/WiMax); mobile cellular telephone subscriptions per 100 inhabitants; international internet bandwidth (bit/s) per internet user; the percentage of households with Internet access at home.
According to Q1 2024 results, 99% of the population in Belarus is covered by the LTE (4G) mobile network. The number of mobile connections in early 2024 amounted to 120.5% of the total population. A total of 89.5% of households in the country have internet access.
