UNAIDS Regional Director Vinay Saldana to pay first visit to Minsk

        UNAIDS Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Vinay Saldana is expected to arrive in Minsk, BelTA quotes head of the PR Department at the UN Office in Belarus Viktor Radivinovsky. Vinay Saldana’s first official visit to Belarus will last to 11 December. The major objective of the visit is to discuss with Belarusian partners the UNAIDS approach that envisages prompt measures to fight HIV within the next five years. The parties will consider Belarus’ possible participation in the Regional Technical Assistance Program for the Countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia on HIV/AIDS and Other Infectious Diseases and the possibility to use the agreements and rules of the Customs Union in forming response measures to fight HIV. Vinay Saldana will hold meetings in the Foreign Ministry, the Healthcare Ministry, the Interior Ministry as well as with representatives of the civil society and non-for-profit organizations, heads of the UN agencies in Belarus. He will take part in a roundtable to discuss social issues related to HIV.
