Belarus gearing up for Russia-Ukraine-OSCE meeting


        Belarus is getting ready to host the next meeting of the Russia-Ukraine-OSCE contact group set up to regulate the situation in eastern Ukraine, Spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik told reporters. “We are taking every necessary step to prepare for the meeting,” the official representative of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus said. In his words, applications are currently received from mass media outlets for the accreditation to cover the meeting. Dmitry Mironchik could not provide information on the participating parties in the forthcoming talks since Belarus is a hosting country only.
       Earlier, speaking to the media in Ulaanbaatar, President of Russia Vladimir said that the final agreement on the plan to resolve the crisis in Ukraine’s southeast could be reached at the meeting of the contact group on 5 September in MInsk.
       Vladimir Putin remarked that he had discussed the plan to settle the situation in Ukraine while talking to his Ukrainian counterpart Piotr Poroshenko over the phone. The Russian head of state told media that the plan includes seven items.
