Belarusian tennis players continue their campaigns in Athens, Istanbul

Belarusian tennis players are set to play their next matches at tournaments in Greece and Türkiye, BelTA has learned.

Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich will face Tereza Valentova of Czechia in the second round of the 2026 Athens Open with a prize pool of $283,000, fighting to book a place in the quarterfinals. Sasnovich battled past Russia’s Anna Blinkova 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in a grueling two-hour, three-set opener. This was their sixth career meeting, with the Belarusian extending her perfect head-to-head record against Blinkova to 6-0.

Belarus’ Darya Khamutsianskaya will take on Russia’s Tatiana Prozorova in the round of 16 at the 2026 ENKA Ladies Open in Istanbul, Türkiye, which offers a $115,000 prize pool. Khamutsianskaya cruised past Indonesia’s Priska Nugroho 6-4, 6-1 in the first round. The Belarusian had successfully booked a spot in the main draw through the qualifying rounds, where she beat India’s Saumya Vig and China’s Ying Zhang. Meanwhile, Aliona Falei battled past China’s Yue Yuan 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 in her opener, and then secured another three-set win over Kristina Penickova of the USA 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals. Falei will next face either Vendula Valdmannova of Czechia or China’s Xinyu Gao.

The tournaments in Greece and Türkiye will conclude on 19 July.
