Belarusian State University (BSU) is expanding cooperation with Chinese universities, the BSU press office told BelTA.
“The focus is on developing joint educational programs, student and faculty exchanges, cooperation in engineering, space technology, computer science, big data storage, economics, and energy. These plans were discussed during an official visit to China by a BSU delegation led by Rrector Andrei Korol," the press office said.
The meeting was held with the head of Harbin Institute of Technology, one of China’s leading and largest universities, globally renowned for its research projects and technological developments. The parties held detailed discussions on cooperation under the agreement signed in 2025. Representatives from BSU visited the HIT Institute of AI, where they were showed the achievements of Chinese scientists in the fields of automation, machine development and robotics. In fact, BSU has also made significant progress in AI field. The university’s victory in the national competition ‘Leaders of Artificial Intelligence of Belarus 2025’ in the nomination ‘Company - Leader of Artificial Intelligence of Belarus’ proves this progress. Main researches are conducted at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics and the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. Over the past 20 years, BSU researchers have published numerous collective monographs, textbooks, study materials, and articles in international and Belarusian journals and also in CIS resources related to this topic.
“During the negotiations BSU was invited to organize the Belarusian-Chinese science forum and to take part in a meeting of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of BRICS Countries (FEIBRICS) that will discuss engineering competency standards,” the press office added.
The visit to China was followed by a meeting with colleagues from Shenyang University of Technology. BSU has been cooperating with this institution since 2025 under an agreement on education and research collaboration. The parties exchanged ideas on joint bilateral summer camps, academic exchanges, and cooperation in specialists’ training in the field of mathematics and computer science.
“Particular attention was paid to cooperation in educational programs for undergraduate and master’s students with the Shenyang university. The Chinese side showed interest in the possibility of sending its philology graduates to study for a master’s degree at BSU. It is planned to involve Belarusian lecturers in the educational process at the Shenyang university," the press office said.
During its visit to China the BSU delegation is set to meet with Chinese partners and conclude a number of agreements. By the way, the Belarusian university signed agreements with Harbin Normal University and Harbin University of Commerce in the course of this visit.
