Belarus’ development program described as blueprint for next five years

Belarus’ social and economic development program for 2026-2030 focuses on addressing issues that concern every individual, Sergei Lobodinsky, Chairman of the Brest City Executive Committee, said in a conversation with BelTA.

The social and economic development program was approved at the Belarusian People's Congress. “It focuses on solving state problems and issues that affect every person, ranging from patriotic education to the development of the manufacturing sector and science,” Sergei Lobodinsky noted.

The program includes specific plans for housing construction, improving road quality and infrastructure, renewing the public transport fleet, and enhancing the social sector. One of the priorities is strengthening the country's defense capabilities. “Living in a border city, we understand better than anyone how important security is. It will be ensured by border guards, the Armed Forces, and law enforcement agencies. Everything is being done to preserve peace and stability,” he said.

According to Sergei Lobodinsky, the social and economic development program spells out the targeted approaches for each sector, such as the construction of new educational institutions. "In Brest, the construction of a kindergarten on Zhukov Street has begun. Next year, we will start building a kindergarten on Lieutenant Ryabtsev Street. Our five-year plan also provides for another kindergarten and a school,” he said.

Significant attention is given to the healthcare sector. “A lot is being done in healthcare. We are expanding contacts with our sister cities and acquiring equipment. Brest City Hospital No. 1 is undergoing renovations; CT, MRI, and angiograph systems have been put in use. We will commisison new surgical units . On Ordzhonikidze Street this year, we will complete a dental clinic that will have separate wings for adults and children. It will have an X-ray machine capable of producing 3D images,” Sergei Lobodinsky said.

Sergei Lobodinsky also commented on the Preisdnet’s Address to the Belarusian People and Parliament during the session of the Belarusian People's Congress. “The head of state addressed not only global issues but also topics of patriotism, upbringing, and family values, the moral dress code for a Belarusian,” he emphasied.
