Ways to enhance international role of Collective Security Treaty Organization discussed

Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Stanislav Zas met with Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev in Moscow.

Nikolai Patrushev congratulated Stanislav Zas on getting appointed CSTO secretary general. Nikolai Patrushev said he was ready to provide all kinds of assistance to the CSTO Secretariat in order to help it accomplish the tasks the organization faces. Attention was also drawn to implementing Russia’s priorities during its presidency in the Collective Security Treaty Organization in 2020. Ways to enhance the CSTO’s international role and establish productive interaction with international organizations and individual countries were discussed.

The compilation of a common CSTO list of terrorist organizations was discussed. Apart from that, preparations for the next session of the CSTO Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils were discussed. The session is scheduled to take place in Moscow in spring. The parties also discussed in detail events in anticipation of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, which are supposed to take place within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
