Mogilev citizens will have an opportunity to see a holographic image of the Cross of Saint Euphrosyne at the Maslenikov Museum’s exposition.

      The hologram is designed by Leonid Tanin, a Belarusian scientist-physicist.The original of the Cross was created by the jeweler Lazar Bohsha for the order of Saint Euphrosyne of Polatsk in the 12th century. Since 1929 the Cross was kept in the safe room of the communist regional committee. The Cross with other priceless objects mysteriously disappeared at the beginning of the war. Numerous attempts were made to find them. In the 1990-s the only unique object was found – the Slutsk Gospel of the Prince Yury Olelkovich. The museum got its facsimile reproduction.Leonid Tanin, a Belarusian physicist, has been designing holographic images for many years and his works are famous all over the world. Svetlana Strogina got an idea of creating a holographic image of the Cross of Saint Euphrosyne the detailed description of which has survived. A copy of the Cross is kept in the Polotsk Nunnery. Tanin got the blessing of the metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk the Patriarch exarch of Belarus Filaret and made holographic shooting of the Cross.
