        Promoting the intercultural dialogue in the CIS fosters respect for the history and traditions of the peoples, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev said when speaking at a meeting of the Council for Cultural Cooperation, which is running in Sochi, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports. "Intercultural dialogue in the CIS continuously progresses, takes on new forms and content through projects and programs which are designed to strengthen peace, interethnic and interfaith harmony, respect for languages, history and traditions of other peoples. The Council for Cultural Cooperation has an important role to play in this process,” said Sergei Lebedev. He recalled that a number of large-scale cultural activities are implemented in the CIS both at the international and national levels. The plan of action in culture up to 2015 adopted by the heads of government has contributed to their popularity and membership. "The new draft document for 2016-2020 developed pursuant to the decision of the Council of Heads of Government is content-rich, focuses on all-round expansion of cultural interaction of our countries," he added.
