Belarus FM: Sensible politicians in the EU are subject to harassment

Belarus tries to appeal to the sane forces of the European society and finds some response, yet still very little, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said in an interview to Belarus 1 TV Channel, BelTA has learned.

“Of course, we are watching, expressing our position, trying to appeal to the sane forces of the European society, finding some response. But it is still very little today, because as soon as a politician in Europe stands up for their country, begins to speak in the interests of their people, and says: “Stop this bacchanalia with weapons”, certain actions are immediately launched against such politicians,” the minister said.

He was asked, in particular, about the €800 billion rearmament plan proposed by the head of the European Commission for the EU.

“They say: “Let's make up a fund, let's arm ourselves.” They are going to do it through increasing the debt ceiling of countries and possibly adopting deficit budgets for all countries. What does this indicate? This shows the weakening of this currency, the euro. People will get less benefits for their wages. Prices will increase, inflation will go up. They are arming themselves today at the expense of ordinary people. Who needs it? It is absolutely unclear,” the minister said.
