First grass in Belarus has been cut on the area of more than 1 million hectares, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 11 June, first grass was cut on the area of 1,032,000 hectares (73.5%). All in all, 89.3% of grasses were harvested from the area of 922,000 hectares. Belarus harvested 74,300 tonnes of hay (10.6%), 5,016,000 tonnes of haylage (37.7%) and 195,800 tonnes of silage (0.95%). There are plans to harvest over 9.8 million tonnes of grass fodder this year; at the moment 15.1% of the plan has been harvested.
Perennial grasses were planted on 85.8% of the area.
