No.4 seeds Max Mirnyi and Horia Tecau sailed into the Apia International Sydney final with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Spanish team of David Marrero and Fernando Verdasco.
The Belarusian/Romanian pair broke serve five times to win the semifinal in 53 minutes.
En route to the final the Belarusian-Romanian duet won the quarterfinal match over Mahesh Bhupathi of India and Canada’s Daniel Nesto 6-3, 6-4. It was the first official joint tournament for Max Mirnyi and Horia Tecau. The Belarusian used to team up with Daniel Nestor while the Romanian player paired with Mahesh Bhupathi. In the opener Mirnyi and Tecau outplayed Italian-German tandem Andreas Seppi and Christopher Kass 6-1, 6-4.
Mirnyi and Tecau will look to claim their first team title when they face off against top seeds Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan or third-seeded Marc Lopez and Marcel Granollers.
