Воссоединение Западной и Восточной Беларуси избавило наших предков от польского гнета и объединило народ на восстановление страны. Такое мнение высказал 17 сентября председатель Брестского облисполкома Петр Пархомчик во время митинга, посвященного Дню народного единства, передает корреспондент БЕЛТА.
Петр Пархомчик подчеркнул, что День народного единства - молодой праздник, но вобравший в себя традиции белорусов. "Беларусь на своем веку испытала много страданий, пережила не одну войну и лихолетье, чтобы стать свободной и независимой. Сегодня, 17 сентября, мы возвращаемся ко временам польской оккупации. Это было горькое время для белорусов. Для нас, брестчан, особенно. Застой в экономике. На многих предприятиях ни о какой механизации, электрификации не было и речи, обходились ручным трудом. Крестьяне страдали от малоземелья, тяжелых налогов, высоких цен на промышленные товары широкого потребления. Закрывались белорусские школы. Треть населения оставалась неграмотной", - обратил внимание руководитель Брестской области.
Сложно представить, какой была бы жизнь на этой территории, если бы не случилось освободительного похода Красной армии. "Эти события избавили наших предков от польского гнета, объединили народ на восстановление страны и сопротивление фашистской нечисти в 1941 году", - убежден Петр Пархомчик.
Брест в 1939 году оказался на рубеже сложнейших политических процессов. Именно поэтому отмечать День народного единства в городе начинают митингом у памятника на братской могиле советских воинов, погибших в 1939 и 1944-1945 годах. "Место символизирует связь времен. У обелиска захоронены 46 воинов Красной армии, которые погибли в 1939 году, а также воины и десять Героев Советского Союза, освобождавших Брест от немецкой нечисти. Как свидетельствует история, в начале войны немцы разрушили могилу, но обелиск выстоял. По-другому и быть не могло, потому что память и правду уничтожить невозможно", - подчеркнул председатель Брестского облисполкома.
В митинге приняли участие руководители города, депутаты, представители общественных организаций и трудовых коллективов, школьники и студенты. Они возложили цветы к подножию монумента, почтили память освободителей минутой молчания.
В каждом городе и районе Брестской области широко отмечают День народного единства. Например, в Бресте сегодня открывают корпус детской областной больницы, на площадке у Ледового дворца развернулась выставка, которая знакомит с достижениями промышленности. А вечером в областном центре состоится праздничный концерт под открытым небом

I recently learned my surname is not Polish, but Belarusian. I heard you on shortwave in the past and am so happy to listen online in English.
