En el marco de la Asamblea General de la ONU en Nueva York el ministro de Asuntos Exteriores de Belarús, Vladímir Makéi, sostuvo unas 10 reuniones a puerta cerrada, incluso con los representantes de la Unión Europea (UE) y EEUU, que quedaron sin cobertura mediática a pedido de sus participantes extranjeros. Lo comunicó en una rueda de prensa el 25 de septiembre, anuncia BelTA.
El titular del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores destacó que la voz de Belarús en la comunidad internacional todavía se escucha y se escuchará. Lo demuestran, a su juicio, las reuniones que mantuvo durante la Asamblea General de la ONU en Nueva York con los diplomáticos extranjeros.
“Discutimos de manera absolutamente amistosa y constructiva los temas de fortalecimiento de nuestras relaciones bilaterales, los temas de seguridad global. Y realmente fue una conversación de amigos o socios”, señaló el ministro.
Respondiendo a una pregunta de BelTA, Vladímir Makéi dijo que había tenido alrededor de 10 reuniones de pasillo. “Fueron reuniones con los europeos y estadounidenses. Y pidieron mantener el carácter confidencial de nuestras conversaciones”, explicó.
Según el jefe del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores, reaccionó con cierta comprensión a tal solicitud de los representantes de la Unión Europea – un “baluarte de la democracia”, que enseña a Belarús los derechos humanos y las reglas democráticas, pero en el que reinan “la disciplina del palo y adiestramiento”.
Pero con los representantes estadounidenses Vladímir Makéi bromeó sobre el requisito de confidencialidad: “Belarús, probablemente, ya ha alcanzado tal potencial que existe el temor de que la publicación de la información sobre una reunión con el ministro de Asuntos Exteriores de Belarús pueda destruir incluso a tal superpotencia como EEUU”.
El resultado principal de las reuniones, según el canciller, es la continuación del diálogo: “No necesitamos publicaciones por las publicaciones o reuniones por la imagen. No se trata de esto. Lo más importante para mí en estas reuniones a puerta cerrada es que logramos restablecer o continuar contactos, canales de comunicación, que son muy importantes en el momento actual y que son necesarios para el intercambio de información, para comunicar nuestra posición. Créame, hay acuerdos muy buenos, específicos, positivos sobre las perspectivas de futuro. No albergo esperanzas optimistas de que todo cambie de la noche a la mañana, pero es importante entender que hay colegas que entienden lo absurdo de la situación actual y la necesidad de salir de ella. Estoy convencido de que los resultados de estas reuniones finalmente darán sus frutos”.
