Президент Беларуси Александр Лукашенко в праздник Пасхи зажег свечу в храме Преображения Господня в городском поселке Копысь Оршанского района.
На Пасху в отличие от рождественских праздников Александр Лукашенко обычно посещает небольшие церкви за пределами столицы. Глава государства приехал в храм вместе со своим младшим сыном Николаем. У церкви Президента встретили архиепископ Витебский и Оршанский Димитрий и настоятель храма протоиерей Сергий.
Александр Лукашенко в церкви зажег свечу и поздравил верующих с праздником Пасхи. Президент передал в дар храму икону, а священнослужители вручили главе государства праздничный сувенир - пасхальные яйца. В церкви Александр Лукашенко пообщался с прихожанами.
"По вашим лицам я заметил, что действительно сегодня самый добрый и желанный праздник. Так было всегда. Этот праздник всегда людям дарил надежду. Надежду на справедливость и счастье. Надежда в наших сердцах живет и поныне, в каждом человеке. Не только в Беларуси", - сказал Президент.
Глава государства подчеркнул, что этот великий и светлый праздник Пасхи, как и светский праздник День Победы, которые он считает равносильными, всегда в душе и сердце каждого белоруса. "И принято отмечать этот светлый праздник в кругу родных и близких тебе друзей. Вот и причина, почему я приехал сегодня на эту святую, родную землю, где когда-то родился. И много раз мы с мальчонками приходили к храму, который стоял на этом месте, и смотрели на наших матерей, которые приходили сюда для того, чтобы встретить этот светлый праздник", - вспомнил детские годы Александр Лукашенко.
Храм Преображения Господня был открыт в Копыси осенью 2018 года. Двухкупольную церковь в традициях деревянного зодчества возвели на месте старого храма за счет спонсорской помощи менее чем за год. Внешне новый храм напоминает предыдущий. По летописным памятникам известно, что православная церковь в поселке существовала с конца XVII века - она была построена в 1694 году.
В интерьере отстроенного храма появился новый иконостас, но многие предметы сохранились из старого убранства. Есть и особенная реликвия - Иверская икона Божьей матери, написанная не на деревянной, а на кафельной доске. Это дань традициям Копыси, которая раньше была одним из центров производства керамики в Беларуси

I recently learned my surname is not Polish, but Belarusian. I heard you on shortwave in the past and am so happy to listen online in English. We hear nothing about Belarus here in the US so I am so glad to learn about your country. Keep on broadcasting in English. I also joined the Hoererklub on Facebook as I can understand German.
