Die Ereignisse nach den Präsidentschaftswahlen im August 2020 legen die Vermutung nahe, dass wir es im Grunde genommen mit einem Putschversuch zu tun hatten. Das sagte Außenminister Wladimir Makej in einem Interview mit dem Fernsehsender Euronews.
„Nach den Präsidentschaftswahlen im Vorjahr hat man in Belarus versucht, einen Staatsstreich zu inszenieren. Deshalb reagierten die Sicherheitskräfte und die Strafverfolgungsbehörden unter den gegebenen Umständen vollkommen angemessen und taten alles, was sie für nötig hielten“, meinte Wladimir Makej. „Das Schicksal des Landes stand auf dem Spiel. Und wenn man in dieser Situation das Schicksal des Landes gegen andere Dinge, zu denen auch die Menschenrechte gehören, abwägt, so bin ich überzeugt, dass jede Staatsführung alles getan hätte, um die Unabhängigkeit, Souveränität und die staatliche Ordnung zu erhalten. Genau das haben die belarussischen Behörden getan.“
Der Außenminister fuhr fort: „Das ganze Problem besteht darin, dass wir die Ereignisse von August 2020 auf unterschiedliche Weise einschätzen. Mit gegenseitigen Schuldzuweisungen ist man heute leider so weit gegangen, dass es kein Zurück mehr gibt. Wir sehen die Ereignisse des letzten Jahres unter einem ganz anderen Gesichtspunkt.“
„Die Sicherheitsbehörden haben bei manchen Einsätzen womöglich übermäßig eingegriffen, aber ihre Reaktion auf nicht friedliche und gewaltbereite Proteste, die es in Belarus gab, war absolut angemessen“, so der Außenminister.

I recently learned my surname is not Polish, but Belarusian. I heard you on shortwave in the past and am so happy to listen online in English.
