Belarus hofft auf weitere Kooperation mit dem Internationalen Währungsfonds. Das erklärte der belarussische Premier, Michail Mjasnikowitsch, beim Treffen mit dem IWF-Missionsleiter, David Hofman:
"Indem ich Schlussfolgerungen der IWF-Mission im Großen und Ganzen die zustimme, möchte ich aber auf einige „nicht ganz objektive“ Sachverhalte hinweisen, die sich wegen unzureichender Informationen in den Bericht eingeschlichen haben. Allerdings haben Sie sich überzeugen lassen, dass die Nationalbank und die Regierung konsequent an der wirtschaftlichen Stabilisierung gehalten haben. Eigentlich entspricht diese Arbeit in gewissem Maße den Empfehlungen der vorigen IWF-Mission. In erster Linie hat man eine gewisse stabile Lage auf Devisen- und Verbrauchermärkten erreichen können. Wir haben einen defizitlosen Haushalt beschlossen und unsere Gold- und Devisenreserven gestärkt. Dabei zahlen wir alle Außenschulden aus und stellen alle Haushaltseinnahmen sicher. Der Außenhandelssaldo fällt positiv aus. Bei Exporten landwirtschaftlicher Produkte und industrieller Erzeugnisse sind wir ebenfalls erfolgreich. Das und vieles andere wollen wir im IWF-Abschlussbericht widerspiegelt sehen."
David Hofman wies seinerseits auf sehr konstruktive Diskussionen mit Kollegen von der Nationalbank, der Regierung und anderen Behörden hin:
"Ich freue mich wieder in Belarus arbeiten zu können. Und im Laufe der letzten zwei Wochen haben wir konstruktive und ergebnisreiche Diskussionen mit ihren Kollegen von der Nationalbank, der Regierung und anderen Behörden geführt. Ein harter wirtschaftspolitischer Kurs, den die belarussische Regierung seit Ende 2011 durchführt, führte dazu, dass in den sechs Monaten des laufenden Jahres die Inflation reduziert und die Situation auf dem Devisenmarkt stabilisiert werden konnten. „Die darauffolgenden schnelle Senkung des Refinanzierungssatzes und ein hohes Lohntempo im realen Ausdruck führen derzeit dazu, dass sich die ersten Zeichen für den Druck auf Preise und Wechselkurs bemerkbar machten."
Ziel der Mission ist Durchführung eines Post-Programm Monitorings der belarussischen Wirtschaft. Der abschließende IWF-Bericht soll dann vom IWF-Direktorenrat beraten werden. Im Verlauf der dritten Visite der Experten vom Internationalen Wahrungsfonds erhalten belarussische Führungspersonen und Fondsmitarbeiter die Möglichkeit, die staatliche Wirtschaftspolitik und Entwicklungsperspektiven der Volkswirtschaft in 2013 zu diskutieren.
