Belarus ist zu einer aktiven Teilnahme an der Modernisierung der kubanischen Wirtschaft bereit. Das sagte der belarussische Präsident Alexander Lukaschenko beim Treffen mit dem Vizepräsidenten des Ministerrates Kubas Marino Murillo. Im Fokus der Verhandlungen zwischen Kuba und Belarus stehen die Vereinbarungen, die im Laufe der Reise des belarussischen Präsidenten nach Kuba getroffen wurden. „Damals haben wir die Delegation aus Kuba zu einem offiziellen Besuch nach Belarus eingeladen, um alle Fragen vom gemeinsamen Interesse zu behandeln“, sagte der belarussische Staatschef:
"Kuba ist besonders erfolgreich in solchen Bereichen, wie das Gesundheitswesen und die Herstellung von Medikamenten. Belarus entwickelt heute einige Programme auf diesem Gebiet und möchte die Erfahrungen Kubas übernehmen. Kuba seinerseits hat das Interesse an der Entwicklung und den Reformen unserer Wirtschaft gezeigt. Ich habe Raul Castro versprochen, dass wir unsere Erfahrungen gern mit Kuba teilen werden. Und wenn die kubanische Seite daran interessiert ist, werden wir unbedingt an der Entwicklung dieser Richtung auch in Kuba, so wie in Venezuela, teilnehmen. Vorrangig kann auch die Landwirtschaft beim Ausbau der gegenseitig vorteilhaften Zusammenarbeit zwischen Belarus und Kuba sein. Die Entwicklung des Agrarsektors in Kuba ist von einer großen Bedeutung bei der Modernisierung der ganzen Wirtschaft. Kuba verfügt über riesige Ressourcen zur Modernisierung des Landwirtschaftsbereichs. Mehr als $ 1,5 Mrd. werden auf die Importe von Lebensmitteln u.a.m. ausgegeben. Dabei könnten die jährliche Reduzierung dieser Geldsumme um 100 bis 200 Millionen Dollar und die importsubstituierende Produktion in Kuba zu einer guten Finanzierungsquelle werden".
