The door for dialogue in Minsk is always open, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich said during the International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues in Moscow on 28 May, addressing Western countries, BelTA has learned.
“It is obvious that the current situation in ensuring peace requires a fundamental transformation and the creation of new international security mechanisms. However, this first and foremost requires a dialogue – not in words, but in deeds. Belarus is open to such a dialogue in any format, at any time,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.
In this regard, he recalled that in 2025, all OSCE member states were invited to observe the Belarusian-Russian military exercise Zapad 2025. “However, as it turns out, despite our repeated attempts to cooperate on military transparency and security issues, the West is not ready or does not want to be ready for such a dialogue,” the state secretary of the Security Council stated. “Instead of dialogue, we are offered the language of force in the form of saber-rattling, sanctions, and border closures. Is there a way out of this situation? Unfortunately, today it remains quite difficult to convince Western politicians of the futility of trying to maintain their dominant position and the right to unilaterally determine the fates of entire continents.”
“Taking this opportunity, I would like to address first and foremost our Western partners: the door for dialogue in Minsk is always open. We have something to offer to those leaders who genuinely care about their national interests and the peaceful future of their peoples. We are convinced that under current conditions, it is critically important to cast aside national phobias and consolidate joint efforts in order to prevent the region and the entire world from escalating into a large-scale conflict with unpredictable and catastrophic consequences for us all,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.
“The idea of peaceful joint development finds its embodiment in the Belarusian-Russian initiative Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century. It fully reflects the interest of many states in creating a common space of trust and mutual understanding. Further discussion on the draft of this document is expected this autumn during the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The adoption of the charter’s text is planned at the summit of Eurasian leaders, which is expected to take place before the end of 2027. We sincerely hope that the consolidated efforts made by all of us will serve the development of a new political process to strengthen trust, security, and cooperation that meets today’s realities,” the state secretary of the Security Council of Belarus added.
The meeting of security officials was organized as part of the International Security Forum, which brought together delegations from more than 140 countries.
