Milan Olympic Village praised as one of the best; all issues resolved

According to head of the Belarusian delegation at the Winter Olympics 2026 Vasily Yurchik, all organizational matters at the Milan Olympic Village have been resolved and the Belarusian team is now focused on preparing for the competitions, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee.
 
“I have been involved in organizing accommodation for our delegations at many competitions. The athletes’ village in Milan is one of the best in many ways. The Italians have prepared well; we have no complaints or remarks, everything has been taken into account. It is a new complex, built specifically for the Winter Olympics. It has everything: excellent food, training conditions. The only challenge lately has been the constant rain. However, today the sun came out, the village came to life, and everyone is already in a competitive mood,” said Vasily Yurchik.
 
On the eve of the opening ceremony, media representatives were able to tour the accommodations and see how athletes from around the world spend their free time, train, and relax.
 
The Milan Olympic Village was built on the site of a former railway depot. All that remains of the large industrial zone is a massive fence; the rest is a new neighborhood with modern buildings. The complex has 1,154 comfortable rooms. After the Games, the village will be repurposed for student housing. For now, a calm, almost homely atmosphere prevails there.
 
After passing through the mandatory security check at the entrance, athletes are welcomed by various activity zones, where they can also learn about the advanced technologies offered by International Olympic Committee partners.
 
Our speed skater Maryna Zuyeva and the coaching staff, representatives of the National Research and Treatment Center for Sports Irina Malevanaya and Yevgeny Akimov have been staying in the village for several days. They note that the athletes’ rooms are modern and decorated in a unique, refined Italian style. The Belarusian team is housed next to the Canadian delegation, which occupies two floors. Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea also have sizable delegations there.
 
Nutrition before and after training is a key factor in athletes’ performance. “The choice is excellent; everyone can find something to their taste. The courtyard is also well equipped for relaxation and communication,” noted Ruslan Tobolich, one of the Belarusian team’s coaches.
 
“The residential complex even has a laboratory where biochemical tests can be carried out. There are wards equipped with defibrillators and infusion pumps, where a patient’s condition can be stabilized. Two ambulance crews are on duty, and there is an excellent pharmacy. Medications are delivered to the village by drone from the nearest major clinic. This is one of the best medical support systems at the Olympic Games. Everything is clearly and efficiently organized,” said Irina Malevanaya, Director of the National Research and Treatment Center for Sports.
 
The opening ceremony of the XXV Winter Olympics will take place on the evening of 6 February. Belarus will be represented at the Olympic Games by seven athletes competing as neutrals.

21st June was fifth International Yoga Day observed across the world. The theme for Yoga Day 2019 was "Yoga for Climate Action”. On this day, which is dedicated to inner and outer well-being of human body, people across the world practice yoga in groups. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice.

Lieber Dietmar,
das ist wirklich ein Dudelsack :) In Belarus wird es aber Dudá genannt. Eigentlich ist Duda ein belarussisches traditionelles Musikinstrument. Übrigens gibt es viele Arten und Formen von Dudelsack in verschiedenen Kulturen und Ländern von Südamerica bis Indien.
PS: das Lied ist Каляда На Балоце von Тутэйшая Шляхта. ;)
