Belarus is contributing to the search for sustainable solutions for refugees and migrants, Larisa Belskaya, Belarus' Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, said at the 76th session of the Executive Committee of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), BelTA learned from the Belarusian Permanent Mission in Geneva.
“Belarus values UNHCR's contribution to strengthening the national asylum system,” the Belarusian diplomat emphasized. “Belarus has an effective mechanism for receiving forced migrants, which complies with international standards. Belarus is consistently developing cooperation with UNHCR to find sustainable solutions. Recently, a transit center for refugees in Vitebsk, which has been operating for over 20 years, has been modernized. This will contribute to a rapid and high-quality response to issues related to forced migration.”
She further continued: “The cooperation protocol, signed by the UNHCR Representation in Belarus and the State Border Committee, focuses on strengthening national capacity, the effective implementation of UN humanitarian missions, and cooperation on providing assistance to those in need of international protection. The country continues to provide assistance for refugees from Ukraine, who are granted additional protection in Belarus, along with benefits in employment, education, healthcare, and pension provision. The Belarusian Red Cross Society and local authorities are assisting them with social integration and providing support to families with children and the elderly.”
The speaker also emphasized that Belarus understands the necessary measures taken by UNHCR, which are prompted by the humanitarian funding crisis.
"While contributing to the search for sustainable solutions for refugees and migrants, Belarus continues to promote dialogue among all relevant stakeholders," Larisa Belskaya said.
She noted that on 28 October Minsk will host an event to discuss mixed movements in modern international relations. It will be held as part of the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security. The upcoming discussion will focus on the role of orderly and safe human mobility and their constructive integration into host communities as a factor contributing to economic growth and prosperity.

Lieber Dietmar,
das ist wirklich ein Dudelsack :) In Belarus wird es aber Dudá genannt. Eigentlich ist Duda ein belarussisches traditionelles Musikinstrument. Übrigens gibt es viele Arten und Formen von Dudelsack in verschiedenen Kulturen und Ländern von Südamerica bis Indien.
PS: das Lied ist Каляда На Балоце von Тутэйшая Шляхта. ;)
