The Global Majority is building the modern world, and Belarus is part of this majority, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov told the media, BelTA has learned.
Summing up his visit to New York to participate in the events of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Maxim Ryzhenkov highlighted the importance of having Belarus' voice heard on the international stage and for like-minded countries to see it as a reliable partner.
“It is important to convey to the international community the things we see as fundamental to today's development of global trends and the overall situation. In some cases, to share our experience; in others, to draw attention to certain problems that we see. This is also crucial for demonstrating to our allies that we are united and that our collective voice carries far more weight than that of any single nation,” the minister said. “We are now more convinced than ever that our cause is right and that victory will be ours. Today, the Global Majority is building the modern world, and we are also part of this majority. Essentially, we will build it together with our like-minded partners.”
“Therefore, the more of us there are, the greater the understanding will be. The greater the awareness of the need to build a community with a shared future for humanity, as our Chinese friends say, where everyone thinks not of themselves but of the future of humankind, the more successful we will be,” the minister is convinced.
Furthermore, he stated that it was important for Belarus to convey its position on pressing contemporary issues. These include the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the migration agenda, cross-border cooperation, the inadmissibility of sanctions and economic restrictions, and the development of measures for stability and security in the Eurasian region.
Visits to international forums are also an opportunity to meet with current and potential partners, discuss mutual support on global platforms, prospects for bilateral cooperation, and specific projects.
“This is about finding those who will work with us, both at the UN General Assembly and at other international venues, to carry out coordinated actions on issues that concern us, to be co-sponsors of resolutions. Some are trying to secure our support. We exchange approaches on supporting each other's candidates in elections within international organizations. And there is the bilateral aspect, which is building the framework of our relations,” the Belarusian diplomat emphasized.
