Belarus to export more milk powder to Algeria

Belarus is stepping up the export of dry milk to Algeria. The plans were discussed during an official visit of a Belarusian delegation to Algeria, the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova. It also included heads of relevant ministries and flagships of the domestic industry, including Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksandr Yakovchits. “Algeria is a strategically important country for us. Since it imports dry milk, this year we have managed to sell more than 20,000 tonnes. The delegation includes heads of dairy plants. Contracts have been signed to ship skimmed milk powder and whole milk powder worth $18 million in 2027,” he stressed.

Certificates were signed for the shipment of fish feed to Algeria, and major contracts were concluded with leading Belarusian dairy processing enterprises.

“The negotiations proceeded in an atmosphere of deep mutual respect. The parties are focused on joint results. Readiness for further expansion of cooperation in all areas was confirmed,” the press service noted.
