Belarus and India are preparing to sign around ten bilateral documents, including a five-year roadmap for cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov met with India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh in Kyrgyzstan on the sidelines of the upcoming meeting of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states.
Maxim Ryzhenkov noted the noticeable intensification of bilateral political contacts. The ministers paid particular attention to preparations for Belarus’ participation in the upcoming BRICS summit in India, as well as arrangements for contacts at the highest and high levels.
“The ministers identified promising areas for expanding bilateral trade in specific commodity groups and noted the encouraging growth in bilateral trade. They also discussed preparations for signing around ten bilateral documents, with the centerpiece being a roadmap for developing cooperation over the next five years,” the ministry said.
The sides agreed to hold meetings of the Belarus-India Intergovernmental commission on cooperation in economy, trade, as well as the corresponding mechanism for military-technical cooperation, in the coming months. They also agreed to intensify interparliamentary contacts.
The ministers reaffirmed their shared positions on key issues on the global agenda and their commitment to the principles of stability, sustainable development and equal international cooperation. In this context, the Belarusian side highly appreciated India’s participation in the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security in 2025 and invited Indian partners to attend the next conference, which will take place on 3-4 November 2026.
The ministers also discussed cooperation within international organizations, including mutual support for each other’s initiatives and candidacies for elected bodies of the United Nations system.
In the humanitarian sphere, the sides welcomed the significant increase in the number of Indian students studying at Belarusian educational institutions, as well as the growing number of Belarusian citizens traveling to India for tourism and health-related purposes.
