EADB: Belarus sees slowdown in price growth for fourth consecutive month

Belarus has been recording a slowdown in price growth for the fourth month in a row, BelTA has learned from the macroeconomic review of the Eurasian Development Bank (EADB).

“The slowdown in price growth has been observed for the fourth month in a row. Against the backdrop of easing core inflation, this indicates the persistence of disinflationary trends. We expect that price growth in 2026 will remain within the target range: not exceeding 7%,” the EADB noted.

In March 2026, inflation in Belarus slowed to 5.4% year-on-year, down from 5.6% in February. “The main contribution came from a slowdown in food price growth: to 7.8%, compared with 8.7% a month earlier. This is largely due to more moderate price increases for seasonal vegetables and fruits: 3.5% after 5.6% in February. At the same time, inflation in services accelerated as expected (6% after 5.4%) due to the postponement of utility tariff increases from January to March,” the analysts added.
