Belarus and China are intensifying cooperation in standardization, the press service of Belarus’ State Standardization Committee told BelTA.
A delegation from Belarus’ State Standardization Committee held a working meeting with representatives of the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) on the sidelines of the 5th Qingdao Forum on International Standardization held on 9-10 July. The Belarusian delegation consisted of Director of Belarusian State Institute of Standardization and Certification (BelGISS) Aleksandr Skuratov and his deputy Olga Ilyankova. The parties discussed current issues in standardization in their countries and avenues for development at the international level.
The SAC proposed updating the cooperation agreement signed with Belarus’ State Standardization Committee in 2016 and signing a new agreement between the national standardization institutes of the two countries.
Aleksandr Skuratov presented the competencies of BelGISS, which received high praise from the Chinese delegation. He also invited them to visit Belarus, the State Standardization Committee, and BelGISS to explore the potential to enhance cooperation both bilaterally and within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
In turn, the SAC representatives expressed readiness to promote deeper cooperation between the two countries. They showed particular interest in Belarus’ experience in developing standards for electric transport, agricultural products, and photovoltaic equipment, noting that Chinese businesses are keen to harmonize standards in these areas.
