Volfovich: No signs of impending aggression against Belarus

State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told the Belarus 1 TV channel that he sees no signs of preparations for an aggression against Belarus, BelTA informs.

“People in uniform have fulfilled their task to ensure safety and security during the election campaign and during the election. But this was a rather specific task. We face a broader agenda now - to ensure the overall security of our country. Therefore, we continue to approach these tasks comprehensively,” said the state secretary of the Security Council.

When asked about the likelihood of any flare-ups, Aleksandr Volfovich said: “It cannot be ruled out. Yet, so far we see no signs suggesting preparations for a potential aggression against the Republic of Belarus. We do not see them today. But the sheer number of exercises and the moves taken by the coalition of Western countries, are alarming.”

Aleksandr Volfovich, in particular, mentioned the decisions of the chiefs of staff committees to significantly increase the military budgets of a number of countries, including Belarus' closest neighbors - Poland and the Baltic States. “In other words, the military spending of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia will go through the roof. There is absolutely no need for this,” the state secretary of the Security Council emphasized.

He added that the neighboring countries are well aware that there are no threats, including military ones, coming from Belarus towards them.
