Belarus' farm exports to Kazakhstan up 20% in 2020

The export of Belarusian food and agricultural products to Kazakhstan went up more than 20% in 2020, Belarus' Agriculture and Food Minister Ivan Krupko said at a meeting of the joint Belarus-Kazakhstan working group on elaboration of promising areas of bilateral cooperation in agriculture on 24 February, BelTA has learned.

“Bilateral cooperation has been rapidly expanding and bringing positive results. In 2020, the trade in agricultural and food products between Belarus and Kazakhstan increased by 1.2 times as against 2019 and reached $307.2 million. The export amounted to $289.9 million (up more than 20%). Our countries have the potential for further stable growth of trade and consolidation of the positive trend in mutual trade,” said Ivan Krupko.

The parties discussed issues related to food trade, crop and livestock production, veterinary medicine, breeding and selection. “Belarus is interested in developing cooperation with Kazakhstan in the agricultural sector, including the supply of equipment for the construction of dairy farms. The development of the agro-industrial complex is impossible without trained, qualified specialists. Today we are buying equipment, introducing new technologies. That is why personnel retraining is important,” the minister stressed.

The delegation from Kazakhstan is expected to visit Belarusian agricultural and industrial facilities in the next few days and hold talks on cooperation in the agro-industrial sector.
