Belarusian, Russian prime ministers discuss interest rate on nuclear power plant loan, gas prices

– Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas and Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin have talked over the phone to discuss progress in building the Belarusian nuclear power plant and the readiness to sign an intergovernmental agreement on changing the interest rate on the nuclear power plant construction loan, the press service of the Belarusian government told BelTA.

Sergei Rumas and Mikhail Mishustin discussed the current global epidemic situation and exchanged opinions about the measures Belarus and Russia are taking to prevent further spread of COVID-19. The sides agreed that the Belarusian and Russian healthcare ministries will share the best practices of fighting the new coronavirus infection.

Sergei Rumas and Mikhail Mishustin spoke about matters of natural gas. The Belarusian and Russian energy ministers will be instructed to continue negotiations on prices for the natural gas Belarus buys.

The heads of government touched upon the integration agenda. In particular, it was suggested to hold the next session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk in mid-July 2020.

The sides also discussed the agenda of the session of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and agreed to hold the session in Minsk after the session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

Other matters of bilateral cooperation were also raised during the conversation.

Sergei Rumas thanked his Russian counterpart for the prompt resolution of the problem of shipping more buckwheat to Belarus in the period of inflated demand.
