Belarus, Hong Kong plan to sign agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters

Belarus and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China held expert consultations on the draft agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters in Hong Kong, BelTA learned from the Justice Ministry.

The document provides for mutual legal assistance in criminal matters by means of executing requests. In accordance with its provisions, the competent authorities of the parties will be able to receive evidence, call persons participating in criminal proceedings for questioning, to hand over documents and work together on other issues.

The heads of delegations signed a protocol of the consultations, expressing readiness to enforce domestic procedures necessary for signing the agreement. The parties noted the importance of promoting cooperation in the field of justice and expanding the bilateral legal framework.
