The Belarusian Foreign Ministry and the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry signed a protocol of cooperation. Acting on behalf of the two foreign ministries the document was signed by Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko and Ambassador of Ethiopia to Russia with concurrent accreditation in Belarus Kasahun Dender Melese in Moscow.
Igor Petrishenko underlined that the protocol is the first document in Belarusian-Ethiopian relations. It lays down the practical foundation for creating the legal base of the bilateral relations for stepping up cooperation in all areas, primarily in economy.
The Belarusian diplomat remarked that Belarus and Ethiopia already have a landmark project: an assembly enterprise of Minsk Tractor Works that has existed since 1984. “This enterprise should become the platform for supplying not only tractors but an entire range of mounted machines for the entire African continent,” said Igor Petrishenko.
e also said that the possibility of training research personnel and students of Ethiopia in Belarus had been discussed with the Ambassador of Ethiopia.
