No plans to float Belarusian eurobonds this year

Belarus is not going to float eurobonds this year because the country will be able to service its external state debt without resorting to eurobonds, said NBRB First Deputy Chairman of the Board Taras Nadolny. “The balance of payments is within normal parameters. The situation is rather manageable although there is a gap, but it is a balanced one and we see sources to fill it,” stated Taras Nadolny.
Meanwhile, the possibility of floating Belarusian eurobonds in 2017 is under consideration. “2017 is an important year because in 2018 we are supposed to redeem the previously issued eurobonds. If we perform well and our bonds behave rather favorably on the market right now, we will be able to borrow money cheaper,” explained the representative of Belarus’ central bank. He went on saying that Belarus is in negotiations with foreign banks on arranging the sales. The official specified that next year Belarus may sell $800 million worth of eurobonds.
