FC BATE Borisov suffered a 2:4 away defeat in the Champions League group F match against Spain’s CF Valencia at the Mestalla stadium on 7 November.
Both teams began the match carefully seeking for their opportunities in front of the opponent’s goals.
The game gained pace later on and it was the Spanish club that opened the score. The match was 26 minutes old when Velancia’s Jonas opened the score. However, the goal proved to be quite a controversy as the replay showed that the ball hit the goalscorer’s arm when Yegor Filipenko was trying to clear the ball.
BATE seemed to lose concentration and did not have time to recover from the first goal as the second was about to be scored. Roberto Soldado scored from the spot making it 2:0.
Six minutes after the break Sofiane Feghouli scored a third goal for Valencia. But two minutes later BATE pulled one back after Renan Bressan’s cunning free-kick.
BATE’s 83-minute goal from Dmitry Mozolevsky gave Viktor Goncharenko’s side a way back into the match. In two minutes, however, Valencia proved their class as Feghouli scored his second goal and the fourth for Valencia to make it 4:2.
In the other group F match Germany’s FC Bayern Munchen hammered France’s LOSC Lille 6:1.
Group F standings after 4 matchdays are as follows: Bayern Munchen 9 points, Valencia 9, BATE Borisov 6, LOSC Lille 0.
