FC BATE, Belarus, were swept aside 0:3 in the Champions League group F home match against Spain’s CF Valencia

FC BATE, Belarus, were swept aside 0:3 in the Champions League group F home match against Spain’s CF Valencia at the Dinamo stadium, Minsk, Belarus, on 23 October.
The BATE vs. Valencia clash was refereed by the Scottish referee brigade headed by Craig Thomson, while Moldova’s Vladimir Antonov was referee observer.
After the match BATE manager Viktor Goncharenko stressed:
“Of course, we all hoped for a better result and we had a great crowd that was expecting a lot from us. But we made a huge number of mistakes in midfield and at this level you always pay for that. Such players as Soldado make use of such chances. Our opponents studied us really well, they forced us into errors. How will this loss affect us? We must seek to re-establish ourselves. We're capable of doing that and have done so previously. In fact, it'll be really interesting to see how we do in Valencia. When you have a lead, it inspires you. Valencia were fast in attack and this caused many problems for our defense.”
In the other group F match FC Lille lost to FC Bayern Munchen 0:1.
       Group F standings are as follows: 1. BATE 3 played (6 points, goal difference 6:5), Bayern 3 played (6; 4:4), Valencia 3 played (6; 6:2), Lille 3 played (0; 1:6).
BATE will play the return leg against Valencia in Spain while FC Bayern will face FC Lille in Germany. Both games are due on 7 November.
